Panos Theodoropoulos’s workshop ‘Finding your Authorial Voice’ has been moved to
Sunday 14th September, 12-5pm UTC
We’re really excited about hosting this workshop here at the Cooperative. Panos has been working hard for years as an academic writer, teacher and editor, building the Interregnum platform, editing authors from across the academic and non-academic spectrum, as well as teaching sociology and writing skills at various UK universities. All that work has paid off and he is now a lecturer in Critical Social Science at King’s College London, and has just published his first book with Polity Press, building on his PhD research about the lives of precarious migrant workers in the UK.
Panos has a nuanced understanding of breaking through his authorial voice into a crowded space that privileges UK and US academics, as well as bridging the gap between popular and academic publishing.
In this workshop, Panos will share all he’s learnt about developing your own authorial voice: the unique style that forms a writer’s identity on the page. Academic writing often ignores the author’s voice, favoring the idea that writing is a mere objective presentation of evidence.
Over four hours, you will learn:
- An understanding of how to balance academic writing with original expression
- Techniques to identify your own and others’ writing styles
- Skills to develop your authorial voice in your academic writing
There are various payment options, including scholarships, so we hope it is accessible to all who want to join.
We look forward to seeing you there!
